Kent Target Polocrosse Club Extravaganza
Kent Target started the year as we plan to go on, with beautiful sunshine, fantastic company, ambitious plans and good food!
Risebridge Farm hosted a great afternoon of coaching for all levels and it was lovely to see some new faces. Riders had come from Kent, Sussex and Essex to take part and they were treated to some great coaching from Jason Webb, UK World Cup Player and owner of Your Horsemanship , Hamish Gillanders, horse trainer and Alice and Charlie Kish. We worked on passing, control of the horse and tactical play with the opportunity to put it all into practice with some fun chukkas. Everyone did really well and it was fantastic to see so many horses out so early in the year.
The day continued with an Umpires Course and Refresher that was well attended. Many thanks to David Beekes for providing an interesting and informative session and we await the results from the examiners with baited breath.
Effective umpiring is an integral part of polocrosse and we are incredibly grateful to all those who give up their time to umpire our games to ensure that they are safe and fair.
Following the Umpires course we held the AGM. Financial, Chairman and Selector's reports were presented and the committee for 2020 was decided upon:
Chairman - Sophie Harding
Vice Chair - Penny Webb
Secretary - Caro Daniels
Treasurer - Alice Kish
Sports Development/Horse Welfare - Sian Griffiths
Safeguarding - Anna Kish
Following the AGM, the fun truly began with our Awards Dinner. A big thank you to Anna who masterminded the catering and to all those who contributed to a great meal. The much anticipated Awards were presented and we would like to extend a huge congratulations to all of the winners.
The party continued long into the evening with members coming together from all over the country. It was lovely to catch up with members of our polocrosse family and to begin to make plans for the coming season. 2020 promises to be a good one and we are all very excited. We would like to extend our thanks to all at Risebridge Farm for hosting a wonderful day and evening and to all those who helped with organising, cooking, bar tending and coaching.
Winter and Spring Training
Yes, the weather outside is frightful! If you're anything like us, you've been battling with rain and mud and all that those bring with them. However, we are over the worst and it will be all down hill to the spring and longer days!
With that in mind KTPC have a full programme of events for the winter to keep you and your horse ticking over and preparing for the Season. Below is a list of training dates for your diary. These are all open to KTPC members and non members. Please don't feel that you need to be a seasoned pro to come and join in. You and your horse will be made to feel very welcome and as National Champions, you couldn't be in better hands to start your polocrosse career. Polocrosse can be played at any level, by any age on any horse with the right introduction and here at KTPC we have introduced and developed some of the best players in the country; indeed the world! Whether you just want to come and have a go or if you have your sights set on the World Cup 2023 then we can help. To book onto any of the sessions please email Sian by following this link.
